August 29, 2009

Yesterday was Great! I went to my first football game of the high school season and I put my marketing skills to the test. Yes, I passed the test of course lol. I went to St. John's High School in D.C., there I passed out free t-shirts and cards just to get the name "DCSportsFan" out there. I met so many people! It was all so great! My boss was there with me the entire time, and once again he was extremely impressed with my work. I really like the marketing job I have now!

I will keep you all posted on my progress, and the games so you can attend!

Best Wishes

August 16, 2009

Hello there! Okay so it is extremely late and I am one very sleepy individual, however, I still wanted to fill you guys in!

Most recently my boss contacted me and requested for me to send him some of my marketing idea for the fall in an email. I did just that actually. About two days ago I sent my boss the ideas, and he was so impressed with what I had, he called me in for a meeting, which will take place tomorrow.I'm going to head into his office around noon, so wish me luck! Hopefully I'll have even more good news for you by tomorrow night!

August 14, 2009

Today was a day of thinking and strategies. I spoke to my boss about what sort of marketing strategies we should use in the Fall. His response was for me to use my brain and get ready to socialize. I was all hands in after he said that! I sent him the longest email ever mentioning how different we kids are from adult, and how the things adults may find great to market on each other will probably never work on a teen. Hopefully, he gets my drift and we can get this show on he road really soon!!

August 5, 2009

Good Morning!

Today is a much slower day for me and my internship, I finally get to rest. However, I will tell you about the events of yesterday. Yesterday, I attended a high school football press conference in Bethesda, MD. All Montgomery County Prep and Public Schools were in attendance. My job was not only easy but fun. I sat and watched as coach after coach gave the overview of his team. One team in particular did not send their head coach to speak, but they sent the head coach's son, he looked so nervous.Despite his nervousness, he did very well, got every point across, and, answered each reporters questions very well.

This was the first press conference I had ever done, so my boss was very impressed that I even had the courage to be the only female reporter in the room at such a young age.I did it!

Once I finished with the press conference, I went back to check in with my boss to see if there was anything else to be done for the day. There was one. We had a small and relatively short meeting about my internship in the Fall. He explained to me that he wanted me to cover the major games in the area, not as a reporter, but as a marketer. He would like for me to hand out free t-shirts, business cards, etc. I didn't mind that at all. It sounds so fun! I can't wait until school and my internship starts!

July 31, 2009

WOW! I know it's been a minute since I've written to you guys, but my internship has been keeping me quite busy! So of course I have so much to say, but I'll definitely keep it VERY short. As of about a week ago, The Rock Basketball League wrapped up with the championship being won by the DeMatha Stags. I would have to say that those three weeks of basketball were great! I met so many different kids that were not only great people but great student-athletes. According to my boss, I did very well when it came to keeping my articles entertaining because apparently I got a rise out of some coaches and players when I failed to mention the leading scorer of a game in one of my articles. My boss was so impressed, why?, I don't really know. You can go check my articles out for yourself I guess The greatest part about my internship would have to be the fact that when people, guys in particular, read my articles, they honestly believe that I am a guy, when I'm not, just in case you didn't notice. haha I love this job!

I am still working in the marketing section of dcsportsfan. The ball really gets rolling in the Fall. Things are going well with E-Cozis as far as I'm concerned. I was asked on board as a young marketing manager because the owner claimed that she was impressed with my work with DCSportsfan. She believes that a young mind is key in this economy. I have no problem with that at all. I really like this whole marketing thing as is.

Well, I should get back to work. Talk to you soon!

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Hello there once again! Today I began a fun portion of my internship with Today I traveled to a set of basketball games hosted by the Rock League at High Point Senior High in Hyattsville, MD. I covered five games in six hours. I will be doing this for the next two and a half weeks. Basicallly what I do is watch each game, record the final score, rate them from one to five in stars, and give a brief synopsis as to why I rated them the way I did. The games tonight weren't that entertaining, but I hear that tomorrow should be pretty fun filled. After I finish writing this blog, I will actually be typing up the article to be posted either later on tonight or early tomorrow morning. I brought a basketball friend of mine and my little brother along so I could pick their brains a little. They were such a great help! Today was pretty chill and I enjoyed it! Good Night!

Today I landed my first BIG ad deal with an up and coming clothing company in the DC area. I met with the owner today and she gave me some free merchandise. Her company is called E-Cozis . It is spectacular! She makes customized ear warmers and matching scarves. She gave me my very own set designed specifically for American University. She was so kind and extremely fun to talk to. She said that she enjoyed my marketing skills so much that she offered me a marketing position in her company. Yes, another very successful day.

Hello there. My name is Ryan Flood and I am an intern with DCSF is a sports website that covers stories on all high school athletics. I am currently the head of the advertisement division of the organization. Today I made calls to offer advertising space on our website. I haven't landed an interested customer yet but I am definitely still working very hard on it. I also pitched a successful idea to my boss for us to open up a summer section of our website. He agreed. Now DCSportsFan is officially offering coverage on summer high school basketball. We are specifically covering the Rock League that's held at High Point High School in Hyattsville, MD. Today was a pretty successful day for me.
